Maidstone Cycle Forum

Kent County Council has revived the Maidstone Cycle Forum and is looking for help with identifying safe routes. They would like to know of those currently used by experienced cyclists. If you have found and unusual and so far unsigned safe way, especially from the South and South West into the town centre, please tell Mike Griffiths or Ron Lee who are our representatives on the forum.

To report potholes

Potholes and trail hazards are responsible for 12% of compensation claims by CTC members. They can now be reported directly to the appropriate Local Authority by using the CTC's revolutionary new on-line service www.fillthathole.org.uk and www.clearthattrail.org.uk. Once notified the local authority is obliged to make repairs.

Cyclists pinpoint the site of the pothole or obstruction by zooming in using a satellite imaging system. This identifies the spot, provides map coordinates and communicates the information directly to the appropriate Local Authority.

Other cyclists can check the websites to see what's been reported and, if after a suitable interval the hole still hasn't been repaired and someone crashes into it, the proof is there that the council knew about it.
